- This year marks the thirteenth year of my career with King/Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science, as well as my life in the Los Angeles area. Though I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i and earned my first degree in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Carnegie Mellon University) this school and its faculty and students have a very special place in my heart. I think everyone should read The Book Theif by Markus Zusak. It's an odd book in that it is told through the perspective of Death, and it takes place in Germany during the 1940s.
